NEW
YORK, NY - The Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACCI)
has announced plans to celebrate 22 Years of Service to the Small
Business Community with a Business Networking Membership Meeting and
Reception on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 – 5:30 p.m. at Brooklyn
Borough Hall, 209 Joralemon Street, Brooklyn, NY.
According to Dr. Roy A. Hastick, Sr., President/CEO, CACCI: “As we
celebrate this major milestone, we seize this opportunity to thank
our many supporters and well-wishers, who have helped to sustain
CACCI over the years and enabled us to survive and thrive despite
many challenges. We wish to thank our board of directors, elected
officials, members, business partners, public and private sector
agencies, and the wider community, who have helped us to reach this
milestone.”
CACCI has accomplished the following:
Conducted over 600 business development networking seminars and
meetings, attracting entrepreneurs and speakers from the public and
private sectors, business and community leaders, corporate partners,
CACCI members, Heads of State from the Caribbean and other
international leaders;
Hosted international Heads of State and the Secretary General of CARICOM;
Conducted trade missions in areas of health and business
investment in the Caribbean
Continued to develop CACCI’s Headquarters, a 28,000 square foot
facility, Caribbean Trade Center/Business Incubator, located in the
East Flatbush Section of Brooklyn;
Continued to manage and operate the Flatbush Caton Vendors Mart, a
9,000 sq. ft. micro-enterprise incubator, an indoor facility in the
Flatbush section of Brooklyn;
Initiated weekly CACCI/SCORE free confidential small business
counseling services and technical assistance for CACCI members and
the wider business community;
Established partnerships with CACCI members and with public and
private business entities which have contributed to the success of
such annual events as: Tribute to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King
(January); Participation in Black and Puerto Rican Legislative
Business Forums (February); Seminar focusing on Certification and
Procurement Opportunities for Minority and Women Business
Enterprises (MWBE) (March); Annual Entre-preneur of the Year Awards
Gala (April), International Confer-ence on Doing Business with the
United States and the Caribbean focusing on Export/Import
Opportunities (May).
Cele-bration of National Caribbean Heritage Month (June); CACCI
Membership Apprecia-tion Month (July); Celebration of Service to the
Small Business Community (August); Participation in West Indian
American Labor Day Carnival Association Cultural Events, and
Congressional Black Caucus Legislative Business Forums (Sept-ember);
Small Business Financing and Real Estate Expo (October); MWBE Doing
business with government agencies and the private sector, and
participation in the New York Carib News Multi-National Caribbean
Conference (November); Salute to CACCI Members Small Business
Visionaries (December).
At the 22nd Anniversary Celebration, CACCI will launch an employment
initiative in collaboration with the State University of New York (SUNY)
Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center that will enable CACCI
business owners to employ trained personnel in areas of computers
and networking technology, general office support, and computerized
bookkeeping services.
